Why the IAP schedule, not the CDC schedule
India follows the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) immunization schedule, which accounts for disease prevalence and vaccine availability specific to India — it differs in timing and additional vaccines from the US CDC schedule many international sources default to.
Birth to 6 weeks
- BCG — at birth
- Hepatitis B, dose 1 — at birth
- OPV, dose 0 — at birth
6, 10, and 14 weeks
- DTwP/DTaP, Hepatitis B, Hib, IPV — combination doses
- Rotavirus vaccine
- PCV (Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine)
Your pediatrician will confirm exact timing and combination vaccines based on what's available and any catch-up needs.
